Only a few works can be attributed to Barbara with
certainty, but these nonetheless attest to both her
admiration for her sister, who was only three years her
senior, and to her own artistic qualities. Another small,
signed and dated, copper, in the Pinacoteca in Bologna
was long identified as a portrait of Elisabetta Sirani,
despite the lack of physiognomic similarities (fig. 4). It
is, in fact, a Self-Portrait by Barbara, as indicated by the
signature
