father, is entirely consistent with the artist9s early production. Only a few years before executing
this Annunciation, Novelli painted another Saint Rosalia on slate for the church of Sant9Antonio
Abate in Palermo, now unfortunately lost.⁶ The painting9s early provenance in the collection of
Carolina Ferdinanda Luisa di Borbone, Duchess of Berry, later housed in Palazzo Vendramin in
Venice, further supports the attribution. The owner9s stamp on the reverse of the stone confirms
